What do you know about taking care of porcelain dental work? Are you a little worried because you’re about to receive a porcelain crown or veneers and you’re thinking perhaps you should have asked questions about maintenance before you scheduled your visit? Good news: There is absolutely nothing to worry about. We’ve got care tips that will let you know it’s going to be a cinch to keep your smile healthy and looking lovely.
Tip: Don’t Worry Too Much
You really don’t need to worry too much about your porcelain dental work. What you will find very quickly is that porcelain is a durable and forgiving material. Of course, it is not something you can treat without any caution whatsoever. However, much like your own teeth, it’s very resilient. Just do your best to avoid eating foods that you are certain are too hard to chew, limit staining foods, and take care of your smile.
Tip: Brush Gently (As Usual)
Brush your smile with a gentle approach. This is the same thing we say to patients who do not have any porcelain dental work to speak of. If you need a refresher: Only use a soft-bristle toothbrush to clean your smile without causing any harm. Also, use non-abrasive toothpaste. Brush gently for two minutes, twice a day.
Tip: Remember Your Dental Floss
Remember that you also need to floss your entire smile every day, just once a day. In this case, you may choose the type of floss you wish to use. When you keep plaque removed from tooth surfaces, beneath your gumline, and between teeth, you help keep natural tissue and porcelain dental work safe.
