Six Feldspathic Veneers

Feldspathic porcelain veneers

Six feldspathic laminates have been placed in the upper front of this Winnetka resident to give a more uniform symmetry and to fill spaces or gaps.  This patient wanted natural shading and surface textures so that noone could tell that she had dentistry done.  Feldspathic ceramics have optical properties that are most like natural enamel.  See before and after images of this patient.

Porcelain Veneer

Today, there is no reason to put up with an unattractive smile.  Bonded porcelain veneer restorations offer a durable and predictable way of creating or restoring beauty to a smile and/or can be used to re-establish function and strength.  Porcelain veneers or dental laminates are thin, custom created shells or jackets designed to cover the fronts of teeth.  These thin sheets of ceramic are becoming a very popular treatment choice for cosmetic dentists, prosthodontists and a growing number of general dentists.  Veneers only cover the parts of the tooth that have been damaged or injured or that require modification of shape or color and they can be a far more conservative alternative to dental crowns.

Exquisite natural esthetics can be achieved - examples below.

Uses of Veneers:

Characteristics of Dental Laminate Veneers

Laminates were developed originally as a way to save tooth structure while still improving the appearance of teeth.  These restorations can be as thin as 0.2mm which means that only a small amount or no tooth reduction is needed.  When more structure is retained each time a tooth is fixed, the tooth will be stronger and will be able to be restored again in the future.  Because of the translucency of ceramics, these restorations can be made to blend in very nicely with the natural tooth at the margin.  This eliminates the dreaded "black line" commonly found on poorly done or very old porcelain-on-metal-crowns.  These restorations are bonded into place and the margins are far less likely to leak or fail.  There are several ceramic systems today that can match the light transmitting properties of natural enamel which will allow our veneers to be invisible and as Dr. Fondriest says, "believably natural".

Feldspathic veneers with contact lens effect

Example of a feldspathic laminate that is so thin at the margin, it exhibits a contact lens effect.  If the margin blends into the root, then no matter how much future recession, it will always be attractive.

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain Laminates can make a smile

Six feldspathic laminates have been placed on the upper front teeth of this Highland Park patient.

Seven EMax Pressed Veneers, bruxism veneers

E Max porcelain veneers

Six life-like EMax pressed restorations have been placed in the upper front.  This patient wanted to blend the new brighter laminates with her darker back teeth.  E Max was chosen because of its strength and attractiveness.  Nightime parafunction or bruxism had worn her teeth down.

"Stacked feldspathic veneers"

Brighter Teeth

The upper front 6 incisors are "feldspathic restorations".  These laminates were employed to brighten the smile and to modify the shapes of the teeth of this woman from Libertyville.

Empress Veneers, Pressed copings, Translucent porcelain veneers

Empress veneers

It is very difficult to achieve both brightness of shade while preserving translucency.  The Empress restorations seen here allow for both optical properties.
