Looking To Improve Your Smile: Part 2

A beautiful smile no longer needs to be out of your reach. Cosmetic procedures are at everyone’s finger tips these days and there are a variety of treatments with various costs, so everyone can benefit. No longer is that Hollywood smile available only to the rich and famous. Cosmetic dental treatments can correct stained teeth, chipped teeth, cracked teeth, worn teeth, gaps in between teeth, and missing teeth. However, before taking the steps to improve your smile it is wise to be aware of the benefits and the risks, the type of financial investment it will require, what treatments are available, and how experienced your dentist is.

More Cosmetic Treatments

In our last blog we discussed three types of cosmetic treatments: teeth whitening, dental bonding, and veneers. In today’s blog we will discuss dental crowns, implants, and dental bridges.

Dental Crowns: A more expensive option, crowns are used to restore the function, shape, and appearance of a damaged tooth. They come in a variety of materials including resin, ceramic, metal, and porcelain-fused-to-metal.

Implants: Implants require an involved and complex surgical procedure and are used to replace missing teeth. A strong, healthy jawbone is required to place an implant.

Dental Bridge: Also referred to as a fixed partial denture, this cosmetic treatment can be used to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge, consisting of false teeth, is anchored to adjacent teeth using crowns.
