General and Cosmetic Dentistry Services

Not all Cosmetic dentistry is the same.

This Chicago client had very dark teeth from taking tetracycline for acne. She had crowns done 4 years earlier but was was very disappointed with the fake look of her crowns. She got several independant referrals from other dentists to come to Dr. Fondriest. Her long drives north to Lake Forest were worth it as she was happy with her new smile.  Every tooth is an all porcelain crown

GENERAL DENTAL AND COSMETIC DENTAL TREATMENT OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO YOU?

We wish to show you what can be accomplished currently in the world of cosmetic and prosthodontic dentistry.  So much of the existing dentistry we see in our incoming patients mouths appears fake and stands out.  Our goal is to make our work close to invisible or “Believably Natural Dentistry”.  Please enjoy reading about the new techniques and materials available and be sure to get a good look at the photographic examples of the dental work we have personally done on our patients.  None of the images on this site are borrowed or purchased from other dentists.  All of the images were taken and shared with written permission by each of these patients.  No images have been manipulated.

Many of the post treatment images shared on this site have been purposely taken from the side. This allows you to see the reflections off of our restorations and will allow you to better see the subtleties of detail that our laboratory partners put into our restorations, all in an attempt to truly recreate nature.

Listed below are some of the advanced procedures we provide.

Porcelain Crowns

Crowns are used to restore and strengthen damaged or decayed teeth. Traditionally, these restorations were made from metal. However, today’s advanced dental materials allow us to craft strong, realistic fake ceramic teeth.

Porcelain Veneers

Perhaps you have a healthy smile, but still want to improve certain aspects of your appearance. Porcelain veneers can conceal several types of cosmetic issues, including chipped, cracked, or discolored teeth. These restorations can also be used to close down large gaps and spaces in your smile, without the need for orthodontics.

No-Prep Veneers

Traditional porcelain veneers require the removal of healthy tooth structure. No-prep veneers are strong, but ultra-thin. Therefore, they can achieve the same desired results in a less invasive manner.

Dental Bridges

Sometimes tooth loss can occur in one area of the mouth. If you have a row of consecutively missing teeth, a dental bridge can close the gap and complete your smile. Bridges are custom restorations that consist of two dental crowns with artificial teeth in between them. They can rest atop the natural teeth or be supported by dental implants.

Implant crowns

Implant crowns can be just like natural teeth.

Dental Implants

Today, one of the most common teeth replacement options is dental implants. These small threaded posts are surgically placed within the jawbone to replace the roots of missing teeth. Once integrated with the bone tissue, dental implants can be restored with crowns, bridges, or dentures, offering a long-lasting solution to tooth loss.

Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal Crowns

While all-porcelain restorations are excellent for restoring teeth near the smile zone, PFM (porcelain-fused-to-metal) crowns are often recommended for molar teeth. The back teeth bear the brunt of massive chewing forces, and PFM crowns can withstand this pressure. These restorations have a metal base, but are covered with high-grade porcelain, offering both optimal durability and aesthetics. We use advanced fabrication techniques that offer incredibly lifelike results.

Cosmetic Dental Bonding

If you have minor cosmetic flaws that keep you from smiling, cosmetic dental bonding could be a solution for you. This non-invasive process helps camouflage hairline fractures, chips, and discoloration for a more uniform appearance. Composite resin, which is the same material used to fill small cavities, is applied to the affected teeth. The tooth colored fillings are then polished to a brilliant shine, and any last adjustments are made.

Gum Lift

The teeth should appear proportionate to the gums. If you have a “gummy smile” or an uneven gum line, it can detract from your overall appearance. A gum lift removes excess gum tissue and recontours the gum line. As a result, the gums delicately frame the teeth for a natural look.

Teeth Whitening

Surface stains can occur on the teeth over time. This is primarily due to dark-colored foods and beverages, which are standard in the American diet. Dentist-supervised teeth whitening can dramatically lighten the color of your teeth, giving you a dazzling, brilliant smile.

At Lake Forest Dental Arts, we understand that every patient has his or her own unique set of dental goals.
