Crooked or tipped teeth and or poorly aligned gums can be straightened with crowns or veneers.

Sometimes having braces does not fit in with current life circumstances.  Whenever large tooth position problems exist, full orthodontic realignment is the idea treatment scenario. If the tooth position problems are minor, then a quicker treatment option is to make the changes with restorative dentistry. This Libertyville, IL patient did not like her unsymmetrical smile with caps or crowns that were opaque in appearance.  She also did not like the excessive and uneven gum display in her smile. All Porcelain Crowns - Straightening smile asymmetries with crowns or veneers.

This patient had "planned prosthodontics" to level out her smile, to even her gum display, to correct her tooth proportions, and to create better smile symmetry. The patient had some perio-plastic surgery done to her gums (this procedure was done by a periodontist to create an ideal gum scallop symmetry and to limit the amount of gum tissue exposed) and the newest generation of the high strength all porcelain "E Max" crowns placed to align her new smile.  EMax porcelain displays the translucency that natural teeth have.

Straightening Teeth without Orthodontics - Tooth Alignment Treatment Options

Having straight teeth will always be healthier and more stable than crowded, crooked teeth.  They are also easier to clean and periodontal disease is less likely.  Ideally, misaligned teeth should be corrected by a certified orthodontist but there are alternative methods.  If the tooth position problems are minor, then restorative dentistry in the form of composite or porcelain veneers might be appropriate.  If tooth locations are more out of position, then invisalign might be an option.  Lastly, if there are large spaces between the teeth or they are significantly out of ideal position, then traditional orthodontics is called for.

Orthodontics is not always to most ideal life choice.  There are times when the best choice is a treatment option that does not require as much time and commitment.  When treatment needs to be completed within short time constraints, then prosthodontic solutions are considered.  Employing the help of a periodontist and crowns and veneers, this patient achieved her goals in the time that she had available.
