The metal part of my partial denture broke. Can I glue it back together? – Joe
Joe – A broken partial denture should be immediately taken to your dentist, regardless of whether the acrylic or the metal is broken.
There are harmful chemicals in over-the-counter glues, and they aren’t intended to repair oral appliances.
The acrylic parts of a partial denture can be repaired and re-attached to the metal framework. But repairing the metal framework requires heat to weld the pieces back together. The heat would melt the acrylic parts. Unfortunately, your partial denture will need to be replaced.
Partial dentures can break easily. If it is within your budget, you might consider dental implants. A dental implant has the same structure as a natural tooth, and it’s a permanent tooth replacement.
